Partnerships To Achieve The Goals

What is the problem you found?

One of the biggest problems caused by COVID - 19 is the disruption of business and industries (such as entertainment, the arts, hospitality, fitness etc.) which has caused a spike in unemployment, with record numbers registering for benefit schemes such as Centre Link. Furthermore, because of isolation and this unemployment, people are unable to go out and pursue hobbies or other work activities that normally keep them busy, leaving them subject to boredom and loneliness as we become increasingly distant from human interaction.

What is your opportunity?

How might we minimise the disruption of business and rate of unemployment as well as ensuring those that no longer have things to do are mentally and socially stimulated?

Who is your audience?

Businesses/employees that have been affected by COVID - 19 (both economically and in terms of how they present their service) as well as consumers seeking mental stimulation. This is most likely to be targeted towards those involved in hospitality, the arts, fitness, etc. and are in their young - middle adult years.

What Is Your Solution?

To create an online sharing platform where businesses affected by COVID - 19, as well as others, can offer their services in the form of small, educational modules. For example, fitness instructors could create small modules detailing different body workouts whilst a restaurant business could share a small cooking course. It's tailored design towards pre-existing businesses to help continue to generate a stream of income creates a differential point to other platforms which seek to expose creators. Users can go through the website which contains different sections such as technology, health, and art. They can then access these different modules businesses have posted underneath to pick up a new hobby. To help generate income for those affected, it is proposed that either the later episodes of the module must be paid for to access OR that revenue is generated through ads. Since connect. seeks to better the community as a whole, both consumer and producer, limits will be placed on how much modules can cost to ensure affordability. This allows not only smaller businesses to get exposure and continue to make small amounts of income but creates a way for those who seek mental stimulation and connection to pick up a new skill which could help them going into the workforce again after the lockdown has ended.
