What is the problem you found?

The problem that we have identified is that young people lack the skills of knowing how to budget. This is a critical life skill to learn as it plays a large role in adult life and impacts general wellbeing of individuals and families.

What is your opportunity?

How might we help young people learn how to budget in an engaging and impactful way?

Who is your audience?

Our customer are young people aged 10-16 who lack confidence when it comes to finances and need support.

What Is Your Solution?

Our idea is to create an app and workshop that work together to educate students on the importance of budgeting and how to be money safe. From this idea, 'Freddie's Finances' was born. Freddie the Finance Ferret aims to teach students how to budget and the importance of a budget. The workshop aims to educate students aged 10-16 about how a budget is used, why you should use a budget, and the pros of keeping and maintaining a budget. The app is designed to keep track of your spending and the budgets that you create. You are also able to put spending limits on certain categories and when you have reached that limit Freddie will notify you of your spending.
