Young Female Change Agents

Just 22.3% of entrepreneurs in Australia are women, with even smaller proportions when we consider accessibility, cultural and linguistic diversity. Young Change Agents is addressing this challenge by building the mindsets, skillsets and toolsets of young, aspiring female entrepreneurs across Australia. Here are some of our programs for young females in the last year:

The Academy for Enterprising Girls is a nationwide, codesigned entrepreneurship program, available to all young women in Australia aged 10–18, funded under the Australian Government’s Women’s

Leadership and Development Program and managed by the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA).

In 2022-23, we continued our work as a key delivery partner for the third year. Over that period Young Change Agents has delivered this initiative to:

  • 40 schools;
  • 2,219 young females; in
  • 5 states and 2 territories across Australia.

In 2022 through the QLD Government’s Investing in Women initiative, we gave 81 girls the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial mindsets, skillsets and toolsets in our Design Challenge programs.

30 girls were then offered a scholarship to learn more about female-led businesses and became Activators through Coralus (previously SheEO) and collectively used their investment to vote for the finalists that would receive this year’s funding. This was a fantastic opportunity for the girls who participated to learn more about business models, financial viability and the importance of a diverse team and a strong mission and vision.

“I loved the program, it was enjoyable and everyone was lovely. I think it was a great learning experience I would love more programs like this.”
