How might we reduce food waste and overconsumption?
Customer / Problem
In our research, we found that most people have excess food at home and have difficulty managing food waste with consistency. The excess amount of unnecessary food results in overconsumption which leads to many other problems.
Our solution to this problem is "serve it up" a place where people can bring in food that they haven't used for people who don't have enough money to eat. Any food that is too far over its expiry date or waste will be put into compost bins to fertilise an onsite garden.
The facility has a garden which supplies to a community restaurant/food science centre. Patrons can learn about food waste management, tips for saving money on food and healthy eating.
Food donations will be rewarded with weighted coloured bands that can be exchanged for store credits. These bands will also be made from donated recycled plastic
We will need a business who is willing to fund us until the business takes off and the building is built
We would need some help to build the station and building from a willing company
