What is the problem you found?

How might we help farms reduce their levels of green waste?

Customer / Problem

Our primary customers are restaurants and food outlets in the Bundaberg region that are trying to reduce their environmental impact. Other customers are people in the Bundaberg region that are environmentally conscious. 

What Is Your Solution?

Sugarcane Co. is developing sustainable kitchenware and common household items using sugar cane husks. The sugarcane husks will be obtained from local farmers, reducing the farm's levels of green waste and creating products that are biodegradable and better for the environment.

Support Required

Connections

Connections to farmers and potential customers are needed. To collect sugar cane husks, farmers need to be happy to provide their waste instead of burning it.

Funding

Funding support will come from donations and government grants.

Development

The husks from sugar cane are broken down instead of burnt, so they can be turned into kitchenware such as plates, cups, and cutlery.
