New partnership bringing Young Change Agents to Aboriginal Youth in NT

Young Change Agents welcomes Sarina Jan as Manager - Aboriginal Programs in the Northern Territory. Sarina is of Aboriginal / Chinese descent and was born in Darwin, NT. She is a Ngkina descendent of the Kimberley region (Family Name: HUNTER) with Bardi & Jabirr Jabirr Family Connections. She is also a descendent of the Chinese Pirates of Shanghi (Family Name: GENG SAM naturalised into JAN).

The partnership has been created to strengthen entrepreneurship skills, social and economic opportunities of Aboriginal youth in the Northern Territory and to ensure Aboriginal young people have access to this education not withstanding their location, socio-economic status, gender, race or physical mobility.

The partnership aims to build sustainability and scale into the Young Change Agents delivery model by creating a pool of local Aboriginal trainers in the Northern Territory, who can build and strengthen school-aged Aboriginal youth links to the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

By partnering with Sarina Jan, our complementary business skills, background knowledge, experience and expertise will enable us to deliver upon an innovative enterprise education package to Aboriginal youth in the Northern Territory.

Sarina has over 13 years experience in the private and public sector industries and has held a range of positions in the Commonwealth, State and Territory public sectors. During her career as a Senior Public Servant, she become well-versed in the protocols of Government, including policy & procedural development and implementation. She has also been involved in a number of tri-partied Government Committees that critically assessed, evaluated and developed Government policies and programs.

Sarina left the public sector in 1996 to establish her own small business (SarJan Consultancies). During this time, she underwent extensive business management training and got involved in a number of professional Entities as a means to gaining new skills, knowledge and networks, but also to change the general Industry viewpoint held about Aboriginal people in Business.

As a small business owner and operator for over 20 years, Sarina brings extensive skills, experience and knowledge across a variety of fields; together with a broad network of relationships across a variety of industries; inter-mixed with her personal interest in future miscellanies (solar, renewable energies, bio- diversity, sustainability); which are all over-locked and influenced by her cultures.
