What is the problem you found?

People were unable to go out during isolation. This meant that people were unable to go for walks, go for runs, go to the gym and get their dose of physical activity. People lost fitness and physical health as they could not do a wide variety of physical activity in quarantine.

What is your opportunity?

How might we allow people to enjoy training and exercise and continually train at home? How might we provide an opportunity for people to exercise virtually with their friends?

Who is your audience?

Our audience is people over 8 years old and of any gender. We want to make it so a person of any age or gender can stay motivated whilst training by themselves at home in quarantine.

We created a treadmill with three categories

1. Social game

2. Personal Trainer

3. Custom Workout

Social workout: ask your friends what their treadmill number is and run against them or with them in a virtual world of your choice! Your avatar demonstrates where you and your friend are, either next to each other, in front or behind one another. 

In the game, you have to try and keep up with your friends, or have a nice long run with them to catch up. If you fall behind you can see their avatar in the distance. When you speed up you will we able to catch up to them (just as you would in real life). 

You need to reach certain distances or a certain speed (depending on what setting you’re on) to be able to level up and earn virtual money. This money can buy your avatar clothes like nice clothes and unlock new environments and scenery.

You can encourage your friends and they can encourage you to complete levels as you can talk and push each other through the speakers (if you want to, you can turn them on and off) . Have fun with your friends and always be connected! 
 

Personal Trainer:  In this category your will select your desired fitness trainers voice and your type of exercise as well as the amount of time you do it fo . The time will range from 5 mins to however long you would like to workout for. 

You then select your exercise level whether it is easy, medium or hard. After that you then select your type of exercise: interval (sprints) or endurance (long distance).

The personal trainer then customises a session for your preferences and guides you through your workout. It will give you cues like when to start, stop, keep going or how long you have left to go and will encourage you not to give up! 

Custom Workout: In this mode you can complete your own workout independently. You are able to increase and decrease you speed up to 20 km/ hour (depending on how tired you are) and run or walk for as long as you desire. 

In this mode you have the option to watch movies, shows or listen to music while you exercise. This can be done by connecting your Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, Stan, or any Apple movies to the treadmill.
