What is the problem you found?

When deciding what issue would be solved under the theme of 'Earning Money in Different Ways', the interviewees within the age bracket of 14-18 repeatedly stressed a problem: They all struggle to obtain the time and resources required to find a job.

What is your opportunity?

How might we assist youth in the process of job opportunities and applications?

Who is your audience?

The target audience for Job Genie is 14 to 18-year-olds and businesses of all sizes. Those associated will be positively impacted as it will be easier for youth to find work, and businesses can advertise their companies' job openings through the listing page.

What Is Your Solution?

My Solution is a website, Job Genie

The youth workforce will have easier access to finding a job through Job Genie. This will occur through multiple tools offered to assist teenagers. The main component of this website is the job locator, which functions by the user inserting their postcode and generating job listings available. Therefore, this saves an immense amount of time instead of finding each opening selectively. Teenagers can also express their preferences according to their schedule (for example, school and extracurricular times).

Furthermore, Job Genie will also assist with the application process. Courses such as resume writing and interview techniques will be offered, compacting everything a teenager needs to have a successful occupation into a website.

According to Y Australia, an Australian non-profit organisation, 80% of young people had 'faced challenges in finding or retaining employment, or knew someone who had'. Job Genie will severely decrease this number, as this solution will save time and resources.

Job Genie will aim to be able to support the nationwide workforce instead of only being available in specific regions of Australia, promoting the increase of teenagers proactively searching for an occupation.

To benefit all stakeholders regarding this startup, Job Genie will offer a listing page to companies to advertise their job vacancies to the youth workforce for a monthly fee. It will also include a premium membership, where the user is allowed an increase in preferences of time and duration of a job (from 3 to 10) and will 'unlock' a wider variety of courses. To increase the flexibility of the payment plan of premium membership, teenagers can choose whether to pay monthly, every half-year, or yearly. Consequently, this provides a source of income to improve this business while benefiting the Australian economy.

Support Required

Development

To make Job Genie a successful business and a reality, website development is required, especially the code for the job locator. Assistance with creating the courses is also required, as an in-depth understanding of the matter will provide a much more valuable source of information.
