What is the problem you found?

How might we provide support and a framework for students to develop good mental health practices?

Customer / Problem

There are many young people in the community that are suffering from mental health problems and do not have adequate support during times of crisis. Additionally, they do not have good mental health practices and are not taking good care of themselves.

What Is Your Solution?

A mental health support service based on-country, run by young people and supported by elders. Its goal is to use traditional methods to heal trauma and involve both youth and elders in this process. "Good Binji" means "to be good and whole in yourself" in Kriol.

The program runs for 4 hours and targets students in grades 11 and 12. The program has teamwork activities, healing circles, art activities, communication skills training, and sometimes special events such as fishing.
