Supporting Youth with Entrepreneurial Education in Geraldton

Capacity building Ecosystem strengthening Youth

In Term 4, 2023 thanks to the support of the City of Greater Geraldton Young Change Agents delivered the Discover and Explore Entrepreneurship Program, which focused on supporting and engaging young people in the Geraldton community to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, skillset, and toolset, and learn about entrepreneurial career pathways.

The program was led by Young Change Agents Programs Manager and Indigenous Lead Tiffani Seaton alongside Program Manager Shivali Harman.

Over two days Young Change Agents delivered 2 Discovery Workshops that supported 57 students within two schools in the area, and 15 social enterprise ideas were created.

During the Discovery Workshops students identified problems within their communities and were supported to create opportunities for change using the tools of social entrepreneurship and design thinking.

In the next stage of the program, the top teams from each school were supported to progess their ideas further through mentoring from the Young Change Agents team, we look forward to continuing to support these teams in 2024.

Here are some of the projects students created:

The program also provided an opportunity for educators to be immersed in the activities and complete the first stage of their Educator Licence training with both schools receiving a 12-month license to continue to support entrepreneurial education within their schools.
