Reduced Inequality

What is the problem you found?

The problem that my group and I have found and are trying to solve is the problem of kids becoming curious and wandering out of their parents sight. This can lead to injuries and death. In our research, we discovered that over the last 5 years there have been 4,613 people that have been admitted to the hospital due to wheelchair accidents. The wheelchair that we have created will lower this number by the technology we have add to the wheelchair.

What is your opportunity?

How might we improve the safety of people with disabilities?
How might we lower the numbers of accidents for kids in wheelchairs?
How might we lower the stress of parents?
How might we create this wheelchair?
How might we ensure the safety of the child and other's in society?

Who is your audience?

The target market of our wheelchair is parents of a child that needs a wheelchair. In the future we may expand to all people that require wheelchair. For example the wheelchairs could expand to elderly and their carers.

What Is Your Solution?

We aim to sell wheelchairs that come with sensors that will send an alarm to our app which parents have access to if a child is venturing beyond where they are safe or is in danger. When danger is near the sensor on the wheelchair sends an emergency alarm to the app, this will alert the parents or guardian, so the parents always know where their children are and what is around them.

Half of the profits will be donated to charity which supports people with disability.

Connections

We will need to connect with the following groups to create our product:

- Parents with children who are in a wheelchair (for validation)
- Children in wheelchairs (for validation)
- Universities who could connect us to engineers and app developers

Funding

If we were able to receive funding, we would use it to create a prototype. We will also use this funding to further develop the product and conduct research on it.

Advice

We would love the advice of engineers to see how we could best create this product.
We would also need the advice of app developers.

Development

We would need to further our prototype to develop the idea further.
To do this, we need to work with both engineers and app developers.
