What is the problem you found?

Some schools around Australia have students that suffer movement based disabilities and find it hard to move around school because of the lack of accessibility options, most schools are not prepared for people that have impaired movement. (eg. Wheelchair ramps, elevators, etc.)

What is your opportunity?

How might we make schools more accessible for teachers and students with movement based disabilities so that they can move around their school with comfort.

Who is your audience?

Students and Staff with movement impairment/disabilities that struggle with mobility in their educational environment.

What Is Your Solution?

Our solution to this problem is that we will provide school-based counselling and interviews for teachers and students alike on how their experience  has been getting around school, in hopes that we can pin-point troublesome areas within the schools that can be improved or renovated. After the initial interview with the STAFF/student, we will talk to professionals which specialize and target issues like this such as builders and architects to improve the accessibility.

Our budget to maintain our company does come with many costs, but this solution towards this everyday problem that people experience will be worth it. Our Start Up Costs for our company include a website ($200 to make, $50 to maintain), possibly a building ($1,500-$4,500 per square meter), and a domain name ($22 for 3 years). Overall for the start up costs will equal to ~$6,000 dollars. Operational Costs will include our staffing ($24 per hour) and how we advertise our company ($9,000-$10,000) which would overall to $18,000 dollars.

Maxcessible is a non-profit company that will have to rely on things like; government funding ($10,000) pay from educational facilities ($2,500) and schools ($1,500) and partnerships/grants ($2,500) which will help kick-start the company and further improve it in the future.

Something that our company would like to set a goal towards is to gather as much advice and feedback regarding what our company is trying to achieve and give advice and recommendations for at least 10 schools per year, trying to make them as Maxessible as possible

Accessibility is schools is a trouble that is not talked about enough that its problem has been maintained. What makes Maxessible different from other companies is the fact that we interview students and STAFF members from the schools that could be lacking in accessibility, not only using our eyes to find problems, but asking the community on what should be fixed, talking with trained professionals to work over these problems and make schools accessible for the better.

Our company hopes that our vision will help many schools in Australia to become accessible for students that experience/experienced movement disabilities, so that students and teachers alike can be included and navigate and move around their schools with comfort.
